The Survivor

Laura Ochoa is a survivor of domestic abuse who lives in Sanford, Maine with her daughter Diana.  Her ex-husband, a North American, brought her to the United States from Mexico with promises of a better relationship and living situation. Once in the United States, the abuse got worse, and Laura turned to a women's shelter.  Laura has now received her green card after a five-year struggle, is enrolled in nursing school and has full custody of her daughter.
